Sparta are four points clear of rivals Slavia Praha in the Fortuna Liga table as they look to defend their crown. They came second in their Europa League group, having only fallen one point short of Rangers in Group C.

As a result, Brian Priske's side had to stage an astounding comeback against Champions League drop-outs Galatasaray to overturn a 3-2 first-leg deficit and record a thrilling 6-4 aggregate victory in the second leg at home to reach the last 16.

The Reds, meanwhile, were handed a bye in the knockout round playoffs for topping Group E. Having already won the Carabao Cup, advanced to FA Cup quarter-finals, and at the top of the Premier League, Jurgen Klopp's troops are eyeing a remarkable treble to mark the German coach's final season at Anfield.

Sparta Prague boss Brian Priske will be without the midfield duo of Jakub Pesek and David Pavelka. Defender Andreas Vindheim is also out for the rest of the season. Captain Ladislav Krejci, top assister Veljko Birmancevic and left-back Matej Rynes are all back from suspension.

With injuries still wreaking havoc on Jurgen Klopp's squad and a crunch clash with title rivals Manchester City this Sunday, Liverpool may not be at full strength for their trip to Prague.

Joel Matip (knee), Ben Doak (knee), Diogo Jota (knee), Trent Alexander-Arnold (knee), Thiago Alcantara (muscle), Curtis Jones (shin), Alisson Becker (hamstring), Stefan Bajcetic (calf) and Ryan Gravenberch (ankle) have all been ruled out for the first leg. Mohamed Salah is believed to be “touch and go” at this stage and could be preserved for the weekend's top-of-the-table clash against Man City.

The Reds, who have already lifted the Carabao Cup and sit top of the Premier League, return to Europa League duty away at Sparta Prague. While Jurgen Klopp will surely rotate a squad already seriously impacted by injuries, the performances of his young stars of late have been impressive.

The Reds topped Group E and are the favourites to win the competition in 2023/24 but won't have it easy at the epet ARENA, where their hosts are unbeaten this season.

Jurgen Klopp's options are limited due to injuries, with key players like Alisson, Mo Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold among those absent, while he also has Sunday's top-of-the-table Premier League clash against Man City to consider.

Sparta Prague will be hoping to make the most of Liverpool's busy schedule and will surely have to take a lead to Anfield if they are to stand any chance of reaching the quarter-finals.

They're top of the Czech Gambrinus League and beat Galatasaray in the play-off round but the visitors, even without a number of their stars, are another challenge entirely and pose a real threat to their 2023-24 unbeaten home record.

Jurgen Klopp’s side already have one trophy under their belt after their youthful side triumphed in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea, and are still in the hunt for three others.

A last-minute winner from Darwin Nunez ensured Liverpool will travel across Europe at the top of the Premier League, and they are still in contention in the FA Cup as well.

However, with Manchester City to play on Sunday, Klopp could consider rotating some of his senior players for the journey and keeping his side fresh for the top-of-the-table clash.

The Reds have been flying all season and have one trophy under their belt in the Carabao Cup, but as they are top of the Premier League, into the FA Cup quarter-finals and in the last 16 in Europe, they’ll certainly want at least one more piece of silverware.

That push for major honours was given a boost by a last-minute winner at the weekend in the league, but next up for Jurgen Klopp’s side is reigning champions Manchester City - just three days after this fixture against Sparta, so rotation may be a factor despite the Reds’ injuries.

Liverpool remain without long-term absentees Thiago, Alisson, Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones. Ryan Gravenberch is still out too and it’s yet to be determined if Mohamed Salah is ready to return - but Liverpool will surely take no risks with him ahead of Man City.

The first leg between the two sides will take place at the epet Arena, with the Reds wanting to take an advantage back to Anfield in a week's time. However, with injuries still wreaking havoc on Jurgen Klopp's squad and a crunch clash with title rivals Manchester City this Sunday, Liverpool may not be at full strength for their trip to Prague.

The Reds have won their last six games in all competitions, most recently snatching a 1-0 victory at Nottingham Forest at the weekend. Darwin Nunez's 99th-minute winner was absolutely crucial in the battle to be Premier League champions, with Liverpool still on for an admittedly unlikely quadruple this term.

Sparta also find themselves in impressive form heading into their biggest game of their season, having won five of seven games since their return from the winter break. They currently sit four points ahead of local rivals Slavia Prague in the Fortuna Liga table as they look to defend their crown.

Brian Priske doesn't have too many absentees to contend with for Liverpool's visit, but will be without the midfield duo of Jakub Pesek and David Pavelka. Defender Andreas Vindheim is also out for the rest of the season.

Sparta will welcome back the influential Ladislav Krejci and Veljko Birmancevic from suspension, while centre-back Filip Panak may be available to start despite being doubtful for Thursday's clash.

With an almighty clash against Man City to come on Sunday, Klopp may be inclined to rest some of his key players during the match with Sparta. That means those recently returning from injury, such as Nunez, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo, may sit out.

Mohamed Salah has travelled but will not play significant minutes, although he could get a light test of his legs to try get him ready for the City game.

Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones could return before the March international break but won't be available on Thursday, while Alisson, Joel Matip, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Thiago are all still sidelined. Young Stefan Bajcetic, Ben Doak and Jayden Danns are also missing.

The outcome of this European showdown hinges on how strong Klopp's lineup is at the epet Arena, with Liverpool having already lost away at Union Saint-Gilloise and Toulouse in the Europa League when heavily rotating.
